Ibn Haldun University's Savings Financing Application and Research Center successfully completed its second workshop titled “The Development of the Savings Financing System and the Fiqhi Problems It Poses”. The workshop was held on January 7, 2025 at the complex.
In his opening remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan said, “Such events provide important contributions in both academic and practical fields. The success of our workshop will also be a source of motivation for future studies.”
Prof. Dr. Hasan Vergil, Director of the Center, expressed his opinions about the workshop in the following words: “I believe that in this workshop, we will be able to develop both theoretical and practical solutions by analyzing the challenges faced by the sector in depth. In particular, solving the legal and operational problems faced by savings finance companies in line with Islamic finance principles is of great importance for both the sustainability of the sector and the establishment of social trust.”
The workshop consisted of two sessions, and in the first session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Çetin's paper titled “The Development of the Savings Financing System with Financial Data” discussed the development of the savings finance system and the problems of the sector in a comprehensive manner through financial data, with the contributions of experts from the sector. In the second session, Assist. Muammer Fatih Öztürk's paper titled “Fiqhi Problems of the Savings Financing System”, the fiqhi problems that the system currently has were discussed in detail with the scholarly discussions of expert fiqhists. The participants included competent university faculty members, experts from the sector, and graduate students interested in the field.
Ibn Haldun University Savings Financing Application and Research Center announced that it will continue to exchange information in the fields of finance, fiqh and law with similar events in the coming periods.
